Celebrating a Decade of Regional Collaboration

This year, WMSA will celebrate its ten-year anniversary serving as a catalyst for regional collaboration.  Celebrating with WMSA are the many partners (past and present) who have supported us in our shared vision of making West Michigan a best place to live, learn, work and play.  We truly appreciate their unselfish commitment and dedication in helping move WMSA forward.

WMSA could not be where it is today if it were not for a diverse group of community leaders from the greater Grand Rapids, Holland and Muskegon areas who began meeting to discuss their concerns about the effects of rapid population growth and urbanization on the region's quality of life.  As a result of these meetings, the West Michigan Strategic Alliance was formally organized in June 2000.   Since that time, WMSA has brought together thousands of businesses, governmental units and institutions in our eight county (Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo and Ottawa) region to address common issues and recognize the benefits of adopting an interdependent plan for collaborative action.  This 'collaborative action plan' is paying off, but there is still much to be done and WMSA looks forward to serving the region for another exciting and rewarding ten-years.

On behalf of the WMSA Board of Directors and staff, please mark your calendars and join us on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the State of the Region event.  To register for this event, please click here.  Thank you and we look forward to celebrating 10-years as a catalyst for regional collaboration with you on April 27th.

Best regards,
Greg Northrup, President
